Summer Sculpin - Jerry's

The Summer Sculpin may well be one of Jerry French's best contributions to the sport....and he's had many. This fly he originally developed for rainbow trout in Alaska but it has since spread around the world. We use this fly for brown trout, smallmouth, largemouth and more around here and it has quickly become one of our best selling streamers. Of course, it's a must have for Alaska!

It features some of the unique designs brought over from his famous Dirty Hoh fly. Most notably, the rabbit strip tail with the #4 short shank stinger hook attached near the back and then tethered to the short shank via backing. He then applied about as much fur and flash to the shank as the law allows. Oh....all of that on top of the lead eyes that help the fly to sink and ride right. The coloration and combination on the materials he uses here is simply genious. This is one KIILLER fly!
