Hendrickson Emerger- Beck's

Beck's Hendrickson Emerger has been in the line-up around here for many, many years. A staple pattern for the hatch that everyone is waiting for....the first sign of Spring. In fact, this pattern was featured in our own Brian Flechsig's first book...."Fly Fisher's Guide to the Mad River". It's one that he's been using since the early nineties or before.

This fly of course works well when the fish are taking emergers just below the surface but we use it for more than that. It's great trailed behind a dry fly. Coat it with a bit of sinking agent and it will break the surface and you kill two birds. We also fish it like a soft hackle, behind a nymph prior to the hatch. Can be deadly that way as well. All-in-all, a great pattern to have for the legendary Hendrickson hatches around the globe.
