Grapefruit Leech- Feenstra's

Kevin Feenstra is known for some unique and non-traditional fly patterns and the Grapefruit Leech is probably one of his most famous. This fly has accounted for many, many steelhead and trout on his home waters of Michigan but has found it's way around the globe in recent years. It's a great "searching" pattern.

This fly is a streamer/leech pattern that is tied on a shank with a size 2 short shank hook behind on trailer wire. It also features lead eyes up front so that it gets down quick. The real secret to this fly is the colors, the flash, and the action. Very unique and robust color scheme, which shows up in many of Kevin's patterns. The combination on the flash materials make this an absolutely deadly fly whether drifted or swung.
