Airflo Bass/Pike 4' PolyLeader- Intermediate

4' butt section that sinks at 1.5" per second- for line weights 6-9

$9.99

These are "butt sections" to which you simply add tippet, or a transition piece and then tippet. The Bass/Pike version here comes in a 4' length and feature a welded loop on the butt end so that you can easily attach to your fly line via loop-to-loop connection. These feature a stiff mono core and a front connector piece of .015" for building 6-8' (or longer) leaders where tippets of .015" to .011" are required.

The Airflo Polyleader Bass/Pike Intermediate in the 4' version featured here for line weights 6-9.

The Airflo Polyleaders may well be the best leader butts made. These things are so easy, long lasting, and wildly effective. They come in a variety of sink rates as well to cover most situations.

These are "butt sections" to which you simply add tippet, or a transition piece and then tippet. They come in a 4' version here and feature a welded loop on the butt end so that you can easily attach to your fly line via loop-to-loop connection. The Bass/Pike version here is well suited for line weights 6-9 or so and where tippets of .015" to .011" or so are needed.

* 4' Polyurethane floating, tapered butt section. Just add tippet! (or transition and tippet)
* Superior turnover
* Long lasting
* Will turn over tippets from 2-12' (mostly recommended is 2-4' on these though for best performance)
* No water spray or retention
* Ready looped on the butt end for attaching to fly line
* Mono connector for attaching the tippet in a variety of ways
* Non-toxic- polyurethane
* Intermediate version here sinks at 1.5" per second
* Color is Clear

The Bass/Pike Polyleaders here have an exposed mono "connector" on the front end of .015". You can either tie a perfection loop in the end of this and go straight to tippet, or blood knot or surgeons knot a transition piece and then loop the tippet.

For tippets of .015" to .013" or so, you should be able to go straight from connector to tippet, either via a blood knot or loop-to-loop. For thinner tippets, it is really best to tie a 1-2' piece of "transition" and we usually go .013",  and then loop-to-loop for the final, thinner diameter, say .012" or .011".

***Although these are stated as "Pike" leaders, we do not typically recommend them for that. Most of the Pike flies that we throw are going to be a bit too big for this butt section to handle....and the tippets that WE use are much heavier than this can handle as well. We much prefer building stiff mono leaders for pike. These ARE great Bass leaders though and excel where tippets of .013"- .011" are needed. Great for basic poppers and floating bass bugs!!!
