A simple yet effective Brown Drake nymph fly pattern that has been a top producer around here for many years now. We start fishing this fly in late April when the nymphs start to get active and it flat out catches fish. When others are focused on Hennys and Sulphers, those that know to fish this fly instead are rewarded.
Bead head version that is killer on any stream that holds these tasy morsels. Fish it extensively starting in mid to late April and right through the hatch and you will not be disappointed! Swim it like an emerger prior to the hatch and even drop it off the back of an adult during the hatch. We also couple it with a soft hackle/emerger trailer off the back on the days when you are waiting for the hatch to happen. Try it!
Bead Head Brown Drake fly fishing nymph for sale here in a Size 10 and tied on a quality Daiichi hook.
